Cupping Massage Therapy

Cupping is a soft tissue tool where cups are placed on the skin and suction is applied. The suction is used to separate the soft tissue layers, improve local circulation, and relax the nervous system. John earned his Honours in Kinesiology degree from Brock University in 2015. He then went on to complete a Graduate certificate in Exercise Science for Health and Performance from Niagara College in 2017.  Upon completing this course he became a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologists (CSEP-CEP). John spent some time working as a Personal Trainer where he worked with young athletes and did in-home exercises with seniors. 

John felt as though he was still missing something from his knowledge base and what he could offer the people he was working with, so he decided to attend Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). John graduated from Sutherland-Chan in August 2019 and Registered with the College of Massage Therapy of Ontario (CMTAO) to become a RMT in January 2020. During this time he also became registered with the College of Kinesiologist of Ontario (CKO) to become a Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin). 

During a treatment from John you can expect a mix of relaxing rhythmic, Swedish, and fascial techniques with deep tissue, and trigger point release techniques. John also likes to incorporate exercise into his treatment plans in order to get you back to doing the things you love.

Anne Marie completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health Science with Specialized Honours at York University. She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto in 2015.

Her clinical focus encompasses pelvic health physiotherapy, with a particular interest in prenatal and postpartum care. She has advanced post-graduate level training in assessing and treating the pelvic floor, which includes treating pelvic health disorders such as urinary and fecal incontinence, prolapse, dyspareunia, other types of pelvic pain such as painful periods and endometriosis, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, caesarean birth preparation and recovery, and maternal labour and delivery support. She is also currently completing a certificate in Postnatal Fitness, providing another key support for her perinatal clients and their goals. Anne Marie prides herself on taking a holistic approach to care, and is devoted to getting to the root cause of a client’s concern, understanding the impactful changes a whole person’s treatment plan can have on the quality of their life.

Anne Marie also has extensive experience working in orthopaedics in various clinical settings and in the community. She has paediatric experience, having worked at ErinoakKids and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. These opportunities have provided her with the skills to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that prioritize her clients’ goals at any age or stage of life.

Anne Marie’s treatment approach to both pelvic health and orthopaedic concerns involves a combination of manual therapy techniques, active rehab and exercise, and using adjuncts including acupuncture, K-taping, and pain education. She is always levelling up her skills through continuing education courses to ensure her clients are receiving the most up-to-date evidenced-based and effective interventions. Anne Marie is passionate about empowering clients to prioritize their health and get them back to doing what they love throughout their lifespan. She always tries to incorporate care in a functional manner – whether that’s facilitating crawling for a little one, getting you back to sport after an injury, helping you start gardening again post-surgery, or relieving pelvic girdle pain for a pregnant client. She is a firm believer that when we are moving well, we can lead more fulfilling lives.

Peter obtained his Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from McMaster University before going on to complete his Doctorate in Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Additionally, he completed a Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences also from McMaster University.

Peter has undergone training and certification in ART (Active Release Technique), Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University as well as concussion management from CCMI. Over his ten years of clinical experience, Peter has worked with many different elite athletic groups including many triathletes, hockey players and CrossFit athletes. Treatment wise, Peter uses a variety of techniques in clinic, including spinal and extremity manipulative techniques, manual and instrument assisted soft tissue therapies, acupuncture, Mulligan belt mobilizations and rehabilitation exercises.

Peter was born and raised in Caledon and outside of work he enjoys all things outdoors including hiking, camping, canoeing, and fishing. Other interests include cooking, saunas, soccer and travel. Samantha is a registered social worker. She completed her BSW and MSW at the University of Waterloo. Samantha has additional training and certification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused therapy and Dialectical Behavioural therapy. Samantha recently completed a Hormones and Mental Health course to better understand it’s correlation to best serve her clients.

Samantha works with teens and adults virtually. Using evidence-based approaches, Samantha works with clients with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, trauma, stress management, life transitions, school issues, relationship and family issues.

Samantha’s priority is to create a welcoming, accepting and safe therapeutic space. Her approach to counselling is grounded in her non-judgmental attitude as well as her genuine and calm presence. Alex obtained his Master of Physical Therapy degree at Western University in 2021. Prior to his Physiotherapy degree he completed his Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at Brock University where he graduated with First Class status. Alex is devoted to lifelong learning and is actively working through the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Program. He also has aspirations to become a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT).

During his time at Western, Alex gained invaluable experience through comprehensive academic and clinical education from leaders in the field of Physiotherapy. He collaborated with research supervisors and colleagues to conduct a scoping review of the current literature on clinically meaningful subjective history questions for acute knee injuries. He was privileged to complete clinical placements in acute medicine where he treated a variety of cardiopulmonary conditions within our public health care system, and in private outpatient orthopaedic clinics that bolstered his ability to deliver evidence-based musculoskeletal care within a patient-centred model. Alex also spent time working in a robust post-surgical orthopaedic program where he developed an extensive understanding for rehabilitation of different post-surgical cases with an emphasis on total hip and knee arthroplasty management. Alex is excited to bring his eclectic knowledge base of acute/chronic musculoskeletal care, a proficiency for management of postoperative surgical patients as well as a drive to help others to Elora Physiotherapy.

Alex is passionate about the field of physiotherapy and he employs empowering education grounded in an evidence-based approach to facilitate patient goals. His focus incorporates manual therapy techniques in combination with advanced exercise prescription to help his patients maximize their full active potential. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree at the University of Waterloo, continuing her education at McMaster University, where she obtained her Master of Science in Physiotherapy. While at McMaster, Jenn had unique experiences working in acute neurosurgery, palliative care, private orthopedics, and with persistent pain populations, gaining a true understanding of the need for rehabilitation in many facets of injury, disease, and disability. 

Jenn has continued to expand her skill set since graduating, as she is passionate about life long learning. She has studied the role of physiotherapy in the management of complex persistent pain extensively, and has applied these principles to her practice. She uses a unique approach that incorporates treating the whole person with collaborative goal setting, in-depth education regarding pain, mindfulness tools, and therapeutic exercise to decrease pain and improve function. Jenn believes in compassionately empowering each individual to take control of his or her own pain experience.

Jenn has also completed further training in acupuncture, vestibular and concussion therapy, exercise therapy, TMJ dysfunction, and orthopedic practice, including recently completing the Physiotherapy Exercise and Physical Activity for Knee Osteoarthritis (PEAK) Program. This education has provided her the skills to treat a variety of complex injuries and conditions, including sports injuries, headaches, dizziness/vertigo, and post-operative rehabilitation. She uses a combination of manual therapy, injury specific exercise, and acupuncture to promote a safe, pain-free and timely return to activity. Jenn is dedicated to motivating clients in all circumstances to make positive lifestyle modifications, listen to their bodies, and challenge themselves so they can improve their health and prevent future injury and illness.

In addition to her skills clinically, Jenn is also an advocate for the profession in her community. She is the Social/Education Representative for the Kitchener-Waterloo District Committee of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. Caitlin is an CAMPT-Certified Physiotherapist who applies an impressive academic foundation of over 10 years clinical experience to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions; with a focus on rehabilitating back pain, tempromandibular (jaw) joint pain and paediatric patients.

Caitlin earned her Honours in Kinesiology degree with a minor in Health Studies at McMaster University, before completing her Master’s in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in 2007.

Upon completion of her Physiotherapy degree, Caitlin enhanced her manual therapy skills, by completing her Master’s in Clinical Science in Manipulative Therapy from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 2010. Building on the completion of this Master’s program, Caitlin then earned her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, making Caitlin a CAMPT-Certified Physiotherapist and Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). As a CAMPT-Certified Physiotherapist, Caitlin has received the highest training in orthopaedic physiotherapy.

During her time at the UWO, Caitlin collaborated with a group of researchers to publish her first publication in the journal Physiotherapy Canada. She continues to work alongside the UWO by assisting in their Clinical Master’s program in the skills labs and mock examinations.

Ashlea obtained her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree with a minor in Health Studies from McMaster University, and continued her education at the University of Toronto completing her Master of Science in Physical Therapy.

Ashlea is committed to ongoing learning and has earned her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is a CAMPT-Certified Physiotherapist and is a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). By completing this rigorous post-graduate training, she has attained internationally recognized qualifications in orthopaedic theory, clinical reasoning and hands-on manual therapy skills. She has also completed further training with a focus on shoulder rehabilitation.

Ashlea also has extensive neurofunctional acupuncture training through the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University. This acupuncture training is an University-based education program designed for qualified health professionals interested in integrating electroacupuncture into their practice. Ashlea has seen continued benefits from incorporating this specialized type of acupuncture into the treatments for her patients.

Ashlea has provided primary physiotherapy care for many notable Toronto events including the Toronto Ultimate Club summer championships; was a Dance and Performing Arts Treatment provider, and was the head physiotherapist providing treatment at the Princess of Wales Theatre for the Toronto productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and HAIR.
